Abingdon-on-Thames known just as Abingdon between 1974 and 2012, is an attractive market town and in the county of Oxfordshire, England.
Abingdon is 6 miles (10 km) south of Oxford, 15 miles (24 km) south-east of Witney and 19 miles (31 km) north of Newbury in the Thames Valley.
Abingdon is a very popular family location due to the excellent recreational facilities. Its proximity to the River Thames and Oxford make it a unique location where residents can enjoy riverside walks and boats passing through Abingdon Lock.
The town has a busy high street with a large Waitrose and numerous small independent shops.
Abingdon-on-Thames has good major road communications with the A34 running close by, linking to the M4 in the south, and with Oxford and the M40 to the north. Abingdon is on the A415 between Witney and Dorchester, adjacent to the A34 trunk road, linking it with the M4 and M40 motorways.
Abingdon-on-Thames does not have a railway station, however, there are several stations close-by which link up with regular bus services to Abingdon: Stations: Radley – 3 miles Oxford – 7 miles Didcot Parkway – 8 miles
