Louth is the principal town for a large rural area of eastern Lincolnshire and consequently benefits from a large catchment population.

Visitor attractions include St James' Church, Hubbard's Hills, the market and Lincolnshire's last remaining cattle market.

Louth has a strong and vibrant town centre. Louth is known for the wide selection of independent retailers, with around 70% of businesses independently owned (2012). It was also named 'Britain's Favourite market town' by the BBC's Countryfile. 

Interestingly the Greenwich Meridian passes through the Louth town centre.
