More retail closures on High Street have been announced in a blow to Redhill's retail sector, commercial property investment market and local residentsIn another devastating blow to the retail high street in Redhill, Surrey, M&S propose to close their retail unit in the Belfry Shopping Centre. M&S is the retail anchor store in the Belfry Shopping Centre and anchor tenant for the shopping centre. At the same time Papa John's Pizza have also confirmed it's imminent departure from the High Street.

The announcement that M&S is to potentially close their retail unit in the Belfry Shopping Centre is a significant blow to the High Street in Redhill. M&S have been actively working their retail store estate with changing customer habits and relocating many stores to out of town locations. Now the nearest M&S to Redhill is a food only store on the High Street in Reigate.
The closure of M&S retail unit in Redhill will leave a big whole to fill in the Belfry Shopping Centre.
In another blow to the High Street in Redhill, Papa Johns have announced that the takeaway retail unit at 46-48 High Street, Redhill will close.
Whilst of less significance to Redhill High Street, the closure of Papa Johns is still important to the well being of Redhill. Papa Johns are closing 43 of its 450 retail outlets across the UK following a review of the business which identified these stores were not financially viable. The business is also closing its retail store in nearby Coulsdon, Surrey.
On a positive note Poundland have taken over the former Wilko's retail unit on the High Street, but more main stream brands need to be attracted.
