There are a number of important planning applications that are activity progressing in the heart of Redhill Town Centre, which includes the former Abbott Pub House, which is a four storey end of terrace property at the end of Station Road, For those that don't know, Station Road is a busy pedestrianised shopping parade with many high street brands that links onto the High Street. The property is opposite McDonalds and faces Redhill Train Station on the A25 Marketfield Way. The Rise mixed-use leisure and retail development is very nearby on Marketfield Way.  

The Abbott Public House was purpose built in 1997 and was operated by Greene King until 2017. The building has been vacate for the past 7 years.

By way of background, the property was sold by auction in May 2023 with the benefit of of planning permission for 10x2 bedroom flats over 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors with commercial space on ground floor. The approved planning permission permitted a wide variety of uses for the ground floor commercial space including A1 Retail, A2 Professional Services, A3 Restaurant / Café, A4 Pub/Bar, B1 Office, D1 Community or D2 Gym Use.

In March 2024, Barcem Properties Ltd submitted a revised planning application with the intention of renovating and extending the former Abbott Pub House to include an additional floor, whilst keeping many of the original features and character.

The 2024 planning application, which is currently pending a decision, seeks to enlarge the A3/A4 unit to 331 sq.m (restaurant / bar) over ground and part floor in addition to remodelling the upper parts to provide 7 x 2&3 bedroom flats. No parking is proposed due to its town centre location. The planning application is due for determination in May 2024.
